Before sending them out to preach the gospel and perform signs, wonders, and miracles (9:1-11), the disciple's are prepared by a series of tests that challenge their faith. The Parable of the Soils
    Series: Luke
    Luke 8:4-15

This parable by our Lord makes it clear that it is the unbeliever’s hard, rocky, and thorny heart that needs to be diligently cultivated in order for it to be ready to receive the gospel and produce fruit: some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundredfold.

    Jesus’ Counter-Intuitive Ministry Strategy
    Series: Luke
    Luke 8:1-3

Jesus wasn’t a self-styled CEO trying to create a ministry paradigm to grab the most attention of the unbelieving masses. He was the humble servant of God the Father. He was completely surrendered to the Father's will for the evangelization and conversion of lost sinners through unpopular means.

    Who is this Jesus?
    Series: Luke
    Luke 7:36-50

Whether you find it easier to identify with the immoral woman or self-righteous Pharisee, is not as important as whom you believe Jesus Christ to be and the evidence of that reality in your life. Christianity is not only about affirming a set of doctrines about a person; it is about trusting and submitting to the person whom the doctrines reveal—the Lord Jesus Christ!

    The Parable of the Brats
    Series: Luke
    Luke 7:31-35
The religious people of Jesus’ day repeatedly demonstrated their unwillingness to humble themselves and receive God’s will for them, which was to repent and be forgiven of their sins. Therefore Jesus capitalized on another opportunity to teach a parable to communicate one very important truth: people refuse to accept the gospel, not because it isn’t attractive enough, but because they hate God.

    Jesus: The Unexpected One
    Series: Luke
    Luke 7:18-23

Jesus declared that John the Baptist was the greatest man who ever lived up to that time, and yet, here we find John battling doubt. Exercising his capacity to think rationally, John continued to distinguish truth from error, resolving to have his doubt relieved once and for all. In this passage we learn that the path to genuine faith can be paved with doubt from a confused heart; certainty is found in Jesus Christ alone.
